From Shirley Heywood March 2021

“I know lock-down is not significantly relaxed yet
and rainy days mean being indoors. Mum seems to be doing OK but I will
feel better when she can at least sit outside with a cup of coffee and a
friend.

I am back in Surkhet at last – arrived on Friday night at 10 pm after
long drive from Pokhara.

It is good to be here again and the necessary repairs and clean up after
8 months away are under way.

We had a picnic with all the fistula centre team on Monday – a holiday
for International Womens Day and everyone free to join as we haven’t
started surgery. The first 10 patients have arrived  – that is 2 weeks
work doing surgery at a steady rate, not like in camp. First surgery on
Friday – I have two not complicated cases to get me started after a year
without fistula surgery. On Tuesday we interviewed Dr Shuvechchha and she
was appointed and will start in 2 weeks and I am really looking forward
to that.”
