Asylum Film – Have your Passport Ready’.

From Ben on WhatsApp

Last weekend I attended an online theatre production called ‘Have your Passport Ready’.

It’s an interactive film/game which puts you in the shoes of someone seeking asylum in the UK, and asks you to make some of the decisions that they have to make as they navigate the bureaucracy of the UK imigration system, decisions that are all too real for some of our church family.

I found the production enlightening but also shocking as there was so much that I didn’t know about how the imigration system works (or doesn’t) in the UK.

The final production is going live on Thursday 22nd October and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to understand more about what it’s like to live as an asylum seeker in the UK.

The production is free to view, with a pay-what-you-feel donation to support the artists. It takes about half an hour to ‘play’ with the option to go back and ‘try your luck’ at beating the system again afterwards.

And the film can be viewed anytime from 22nd Oct – 24th Oct here: https://www.digital-lyceum.com/theatre

Feel free to pass on to anyone you think might be interested!
